  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 pint of blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (to brush on rolls after baking)
  • Filling Ingredients
  • 2 packages (8 oz.) neufchatel or cream cheese, room temperature
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 stick salted butter, room temperature
